Blue Flag Iris seeds

Perennial flowering plants.

This Iris type fares well under many types of weather conditions and provides lovely cut flowers.

Zones 4-9.

Planting instructions:

Place seeds in the refrigerator (or in a place with a temperature of 40 degrees F or less) for at least two weeks. Soak seeds in water for a few days, changing the water daily. Then, place seed in raising mix and keep them just barely moist. Do not let the soil dry out. The soil should be moist not wet. It is best to put the pot in semi shade, so it doesn't dry out.

Iris seeds are slow to germinate. The seed should germinate after 6 weeks, but some seeds may take up to 6 months to germinate.

Plant seedlings 18 inches apart.

Alternate planting method:

If you live in a climate where the fall and winter temperature are often below 40 degrees, you can plant them in the soil in the fall, and most seeds should germinate in the spring. This method is easier, but germination rates will be much lower than the first planting method described.
